A Charm of Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are impossible to ignore in Panama. They dart through gardens and forests like tiny flashes of color, their wings beating so quickly they seem to hover somewhere between bird and illusion. With more than 50 species found throughout the country, every walk offered the possibility of discovering another remarkable jewel. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to encounter seven different species, each with its own unique colors and personality.

This collection is inspired by those encounters—moments spent standing quietly as these remarkable birds zipped past, hovered just feet away, or paused long enough to reveal the brilliance of their iridescent feathers. These paintings celebrate the incredible diversity of Panama's hummingbirds and the sense of wonder that comes from slowing down long enough to truly appreciate them.
